“We develop all projects jointly with our clients. In doing so, we elaborate architecturally and technically sophisticated solutions. Our teams have an interdisciplinary orientation, enabling us to design not only the building, but also its integration into the surrounding environment. To this end we prepare our projects to a high technological standard using Building Information Modeling (BIM).”
CHRISTOPHER GRIMBLE, MANAGING DIRECTOR, CORPORATE DIVISION BUILDINGS
With more than 1,200 employees and numerous branch offices in Germany and abroad, the Obermeyer Corporate Group, founded in Munich in 1958, is one of the largest independent consultancies in Germany.
The interdisciplinary team of architects, engineers, landscape architects and urban planners handles highly complex planning and building projects spanning architecture, urban and regional planning, as well as underground engineering and infrastructure projects all over the world.
With various in-house specialist departments, Obermeyer does not just offer planning services for individual disciplines, but complete planning extending from the first study right up to completion, and all from one source. In doing so, the planners’ solutions not only meet requirements for functionality and economic efficiency, but also take special account of sustainability and energy efficiency aspects. The designs are implemented using the very latest technical methods, such as BIM and GIS.
Since March 2014, a cosmopolitan clinic campus is being constructed in the oasis city Al Ain, near Abu Dhabi, according to Obermeyer’s design.
The architectural concept is based on the theme of a ‘healing oasis’. With approximately 700 beds, the hospital meets the most modern medical and building services demands, while at the same time takes the cultural and climatic conditions into account. In order to realise this large-scale project within the approximately 38-month timescale, OBERMEYER’s planners took advantage of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and the integration of the individual trades into one central three-dimensional model. Basic prerequisites for realising a planning volume of this size in a interdisciplinary way are not only special knowhow in relation to planning health facilities and medical equipment, but also well-functioning internal communication.
